In 5 quick steps, you can keep those lashes looking like a million bucks until your next refill appointment!
Let’s review The 5 Golden Rules of lash upkeep.
1. Wash those luscious lashes! We highly recommend you wash and clean your lashes daily (twice a day for heavy makeup wearers) using a lash extension foaming cleanser and brush. This includes the day of your appointment! On the day of your lash refill, ensure there’s no residual makeup or oil left on the natural lashes — it prevents the adhesive from bonding to the natural lash properly.
2. Don’t wear mascara…AT ALL! I know, you probably want to maximise volume and keep that curl on point but, here’s the thing…while mascara isn’t necessarily the bad guy, removing it is. Taking off your mascara takes your lash extensions off with it — all that money you invested into gorgeous lashes, you just pulled it off. Mascara also tends to build up on the natural lash, which later makes it close to impossible for the adhesive to bond during your refill appointment. So, if you pride yourself on fabulous lashes, and want to extend their shelf life, Please.Put.Down.The.Mascara.
3. Adopt a zero-touch policy. Rubbing, picking and pulling at your lash extensions is sometimes unconscious. It might be your version of biting your nails, or toddlers picking their nose — sorry, we had to give you a visual that might actually prevent you from doing it. Please, for the love of lashes — DO NOT rub, pick or pull at your extensions. Oh, and if you didn’t know…yanking at your lash extensions will also pull out or snap your natural lashes. If you want to get refills, please make sure we have something to attach your new set of lashes to!
4. Don’t sleep on your face! Okay, we’re not suggesting you sleep standing, instead of that you avoid sleeping with your face pillow down. If you’re a ‘face sleeper’, we urge you to invest in a 3D sleep mask and protect your pretty lashes while you sleep. That way, you can get your beauty sleep comfortably (face down if you wish), but your lashes will retain their ultimate curl. You’re welcome, lash lover. *winks*
5. Show up to your appointment with CLEAN lashes.
It’s one of the biggest steps we see people miss. Too many times, a client will arrive at their appointment with makeup bearing lashes. Please don’t do this, for it means the time we’ve allocated to your appointment gets cut short because we’re spending time washing your lashes. The issue with that is, we may run out of time before your lashes are filled back up to their usual fullness. It quite possibly results in you walking out with half to three quarters of a set. We know you don’t want that, and neither do we. Please respect our time, and we’ll promise to do a killer lash job.
